About this Pilgrimage

Join us on a powerful pilgrimage following the steps of SPJII October 17–27, 2025. From Krakow and the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy to the Vatican, Assisi, and San Giovanni Rotondo, experience daily Mass, spiritual guidance from Fr. Javier Barreto, and an unforgettable encounter with the roots of our faith.

DAY 1:
FRIDAY 

Arrival and Introduction to Krakow
After settling into your hotel, we begin the pilgrimage by visiting Wawel Cathedral, inside Wawel Castle. This historic cathedral witnessed pivotal events, such as the ordination of Karol Wojtyła (Saint John Paul II) as bishop. We will reflect on his spiritual journey while admiring the relics of Saint Stanislaus, patron saint of Poland. We will celebrate with our Welcome Mass, kicking off the pilgrimage. Welcome dinner will follow in the evening.
DAY 2:
SATURDAY
Shrines of Divine Mercy and Saint John Paul II
In the morning, we will visit the Shrine of Divine Mercy, where Saint Faustina received visions of Jesus and His message of Divine Mercy. We will tour the chapel and convent where Saint Faustina lived and pray at her tomb. Then, we will walk along the path that connects this shrine to the Shrine of Saint John Paul II. Relics such as his blood-stained cassock from the assassination attempt on his life are preserved here. We will celebrate Holy Mass. In the afternoon, there will be time for reflection and return to the hotel.
DAY 3:
SUNDAY
Wadowice and Auschwitz-Birkenau
We will travel to Wadowice, the birthplace of Karol Wojtyła. We will visit his birthplace, now a museum, and the Basilica of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary, where he was baptized. We will celebrate Holy Mass here. In the afternoon, we will head to Auschwitz-Birkenau, the Nazi concentration camp where Saint Maximilian Kolbe offered his life for another prisoner. We will reverently tour the site, visiting the cell where he was martyred. We will reflect on his unwavering faith in the midst of suffering. We will return to Krakow in the evening.
DAY 4:
MONDAY
Monastery of Jasna Góra and Wieliczka Salt Mine
In the morning, we will travel to Częstochowa to visit the Monastery of Jasna Góra, home of the venerated icon of the Black Madonna, the most famous Marian shrine in Poland. We will learn about the miraculous history of this icon and the deep devotion of the Polish people to Our Lady. We will celebrate Holy Mass in the Chapel of the Black Madonna and spend time in prayer. In the afternoon, we will visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will admire its impressive chapels carved entirely out of salt—a testament to the faith of Polish miners. Return to Krakow in the evening.
DAY 5:
TUESDAY
Niepokalanów and Departure for RomeIn the morning, we will travel to Niepokalanów, known as the “City of the Immaculate Mother of God,” founded by St. Maximilian Kolbe in 1927. This Franciscan monastery is a significant center of evangelization and Marian devotion. We will visit the Basilica of the Immaculate Mother of God, the museum dedicated to St. Maximilian, and the original chapel. We will celebrate the final Holy Mass of this pilgrimage in this place filled with peace. We will return to Krakow after midday, with time for lunch and preparation for the airport transfer. In the evening, we will take our flight to Rome to continue the pilgrimage to the Vatican.

Arrival in Rome
We will arrive in Rome at night and transfer to our hotel located near the historic center. A light dinner will be provided as we reflect on our arrival in the Eternal City.
DAY 6:
WEDNESDAY
Papal Audience, St. Peter’s Basilica, and St. Mary Major
Early in the morning, we will attend the Papal Audience with Pope Francis in St. Peter’s Square. This event will be a unique opportunity to receive the Holy Father’s blessing and reflect on his message of faith. After the audience, we will enter St. Peter’s Basilica through the Holy Door, a symbol of divine grace during Jubilee Years. Here we will celebrate Holy Mass and visit the tomb of St. John Paul II.
In the afternoon, we will visit the Basilica of St. Mary Major, the oldest Marian shrine in Rome, which houses relics of the crib of the Child Jesus. Return to the hotel.
DAY 7:
THURSDAY
Vatican Museums, St. John Lateran, and St. Paul Outside the WallsWe will begin the day early with a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, including the Sistine Chapel, where we will admire Michelangelo’s frescoes. This visit will allow us to explore the artistic and historical richness of the Catholic Church. Next, we will visit the Basilica of St. John Lateran, the Pope’s cathedral as Bishop of Rome, and cross through its Holy Door. We will also visit the Scala Sancta (Holy Stairs), which, according to tradition, Jesus climbed during His Passion. In the afternoon, we will visit the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls, where the tomb of the Apostle Paul is located. Here we will cross the Holy Door and reflect on his life and mission as an evangelizer. Dinner and overnight in Rome.

DAY 8:
FRIDAY 
San Giovanni Rotondo and St. Michael the ArchangelEarly in the morning, we will depart for San Giovanni Rotondo. Upon arrival, we will visit the places associated with St. Padre Pio, including his cell, his tomb, and the hospital he founded, known as the “House for the Relief of Suffering.” We will celebrate Holy Mass in the main sanctuary. In the afternoon, we will visit the Cave of St. Michael the Archangel, an important place of pilgrimage visited by saints such as St. Francis of Assisi and St. John Paul II. Dinner and overnight in San Giovanni Rotondo.


DAY 9:
SATURDAY
Journey to Assisi
After breakfast, we will travel to Assisi. We will begin our pilgrimage at the Sanctuary of the Renunciation, where St. Francis gave up his material possessions. We will visit the Basilica of St. Francis, which houses his tomb and frescoes depicting his life. Then, the Basilica of St. Clare, which holds the remains of St. Clare, founder of the Poor Clares, and the San Damiano Cross, the icon that inspired St. Francis to rebuild the Church. Lastly, we will visit the Church of St. Mary Major, where the incorrupt body of Blessed Carlo Acutis rests. Dinner and overnight in Assisi.


DAY 10:
SUNDAY 
Return to Rome and Free Afternoon
Early in the morning, we will depart from Assisi to Rome. This day will be dedicated to exploring the city’s main historic landmarks, including the Church of the Gesù, the mother church of the Society of Jesus and the resting place of St. Ignatius of Loyola; Piazza Navona, one of Rome’s most beautiful squares; the Colosseum and Roman Forum, iconic sites of ancient Rome; and the Trevi Fountain. We will conclude the day with a farewell dinner in Trastevere, one of Rome’s most charming neighborhoods.


DAY 11:
MONDAY 
Departure to Miami
After breakfast, transfer to Rome airport for our return flight to Miami, carrying in our hearts the blessings of this great experience.

Important Note: Pilgrims must purchase their own international airfare in order to participate in this itinerary.


Arrival in Krakow, Poland (KRK):Flights should be scheduled to arrive at John Paul II International Airport (KRK) on Friday, October 17, between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The bus will depart for the hotel at 3:00 p.m.


Departure from Rome, Italy (FCO):The return flight should be scheduled from Leonardo da Vinci International Airport – Fiumicino (FCO) on Monday, October 27, after 9:00 a.m.


Pilgrims arriving in Krakow before October 17 or after the specified time, as well as those departing Rome before 9:00 a.m., must arrange their own transportation to the hotel or airport. Please be sure to confirm these details before making your reservations.
